This fall, we’re excited to try something new! In the past, all youth participated in one combined session. Moving forward, we’ll offer two age-specific sessions held at the same time:

Ages 12–18: Life skills development and career exploration
Both sessions run 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Iredell County Ag Resource Center, 444 Bristol Dr., Statesville.

Registration is required for each monthly program.

Registration opens on the first business day of each month.

There is typically a maximum of 30 participants per program, though this may vary depending on the activity.
- There is no cost for this program.
Important Reminder: A parent/guardian must stay on-site for the full duration of every program.
2025-2026 Calendar
- Thursday, February 19th
- 5-11 year olds: Plants
- This program introduces youth to the basics of plant science and the important role plants play in our everyday lives. Participants will learn about the parts of a plant, what plants need to grow, and how seeds travel and develop into mature plants.
- 12-18 year olds: Cooking Skills**
- **THIS IS A REPEAT OF DECEMBER 2025** IF YOU HAVE ALREADY TAKEN THIS, PLEASE DO NO REGISTER
- Youth will explore the essentials of meal planning and learn practical budgeting skills to shop smart and stretch their food dollars. To bring it all together, participants will gets hands-on experience cooking a simple, nutritious recipe in the kitchen, building confidence and skills for healthy eating at home
- 5-11 year olds: Plants
- Thursday, March 19th
- 5-11 year olds: Space
- Blast off into space science as youth discover the wonders of our solar system and beyond! In this program, participants will learn about constellations, the movement of the sun, Earth, and moon, and why the moon appears to change shape.
- 12-18 year olds: Career Pathways and Planning
- Youth will be introduced to NCWorks and the NextGen Youth Services program, which supports young people in planning, preparing for, and launching a career. The session will explore free career services such as career exploration, resume and interview support, job training opportunities, and paid work experiences. Participants will also learn how to use online career tools to explore interests, understand local job opportunities, and learn about employers and high-demand careers in Iredell County.
